~ Scrap 365: April Issue ~

This post will remain at the top till the code expires.

My article this month on Scrap 365 is using page template in the digital section. I've made use of Tiffany Tillman's template:

Available at Design House Digital here.

Tiffany has been kind enough to offer this template free to readers of Scrap 365. Here's the code: scrap365tiffany. It's valid till the end of April 2012.

She has also kindly offered 25% off her store at DHD. Here's the code: scrap365tiffany25. The code expires at the end of April 2012.

Thanks Tiffany! You are generous! Have fun shopping! TTFN!

~ Oscraps: Maya de Groot's Moustache Madness ~

Maya de Groot's latest kit is a scream! Entitled Moustache Madness, it a fabby kit to play and is available at Oscraps.

Here's my LO:

My best friend's kid. When she sent me this photo, I knew I had to do something with it as he's so adorable.

On the mundane side, I've got a heavy schedule this week! Tons of meetings to attend, a funeral and a curry night! I normally prefer to stay in at night but no chance this week! Oh well, at least I won't be bored! TTFN!

~ What A Disastrous Weekend! ~

One minute the library containing my digi products was working, the next, it failed to load in iPhoto and I was stuck!!! I created a new library containing all my digi products and this was stored on an external hard disk. It suddenly failed me and no matter how I tried to repair the library, it just wouldn't load in iPhoto! Thankfully I have a backup copy in another external hard disk but that was dated 7th April which effectively meant that any new kits loaded in the library after that date wouldn't be on there (and I had loaded up a lot!) So I spent the weekend trying to load all the recently bought digi supplies and sorting them out. Very tedious I may add as I sort according to different embellishment categories eg. papers, flowers, birds etc. (like how I would do with real stash). Then I've got another category by designers & their stores. I was so looking forward to a weekend of scrapping and this had to spoil it!

Anyway, the bottom line is always back up regularly. In fact, I shall have to designated a day in the week whereby I do my weekly backups. Never know what can happened in a split second! TTFN!

Just found out my Digi Dare LO was picked as a winner! This was the LO:

~ Val C. Designs: Free Like A Bird ~

Val has come out with a collaboration kit with Brine Designs entitled Free Like A Bird, available at Zig Zag Scrap.

Here's what I've done with the kit:

~ Digi Dare #272 ~

This week Digi Dare challenge is about journaling an injury. Well, I've got a scar on my right shoulder, just near the joint. Got that from swinging on the doors of a glass cabinet which fell on top of me. I was 6 years old then. No broken bones, just a nasty cut which required sewing it up. Somehow, I remember it so clearly. Anyway, here's my LO documenting it:

Used Anna Aspnes supplies.

One of the requirements is to make use of white space and to use half the page. Not really a white space person but I achieved that! TTFN!

~ AnnaLift ~

Created this LO for this week's AnnaLift

Supplies:Anna Aspnes: - ArtPlay Palette Easter Chick- ArtPlay Palette Easter Bunny- Multi Media Chicks No1- Artsy Kardz Easter Chicks- Cool Glows No1- Warm Glows No1- Multi Colors Magic Flares No1 Overlays
Fonts: DK Crayon Crumble & Elephants In Cherry Trees

I usually hold the egg hunt in our garden but as we were away, we held it in our caravan instead. Small area but nonetheless we managed to hide the eggs and the boys went on a hunting spree. They still somehow missed a couple of eggs and I won't be surprised if there are still eggs lying around in the caravan!!! Hope not! TTFN!

365 Cards: Day 48 ~

Today's challenge was Ad-Inspired. Here's the Ad that I've chosen:

Luv the grungy-ness of it but I've chosen to lift the title.

Here's my card:

Background paper created using Anna Aspnes' ArtPlay Palette Vitality & Beth Rimmer's Diary Declassified. Alphas & Numbers by Vicki Stegall's Ransom Alphas.

Card will be heading to my nephew who turns 21 next month. TTFN!

~ Oscraps: Copycat Challenge ~

It's the last day of the Easter break for me. I start work tomorrow while my wee one starts school. Spent the afternoon catching up on stuff that is needed for work tomorrow. I had a good rest but what a pity, it ended too soon!

Managed to squeeze time last nite to do the Copycat challenge at Oscraps. Basically a template is given. So here's what I've done with it:

Supplies by Anna Aspnes' ArtPlay Palette Blossom.

Basically climbed up this hill and hubs was looking for a place to fish but we couldn't find a safe spot. Instead we found an unused fort and had a mini picnic. Thank goodness, it was sunny that day. TTFN!

~ Art Journal Caravan: Itinerary #6 ~

Right, this itinerary really stumped me and I skipped it. However, I couldn't ignore it forever and decided to get down and try and do it. I went for the word.

The word is 'quixotic'. Not an easy word to play with. The others in the category weren't easy either. After messing around for a bit, I stumbled upon this particular image and then everything came about together. So here's my effort:

Itinerary #6: Quixotic
Supplies:
Tangie: Journey12, AJC11 Parcel 30
Studio Mix19: Glorious Vision
Rebecca Mcmeen: Batiste
Anna Aspnes: Descriptive Word Transfers No1
Viva Artistry: Sign Of Times Leo
Tumble Fish Studio: Freestyle
Beth Rimmer: Steamtown Art Dolls
Fonts: Singapore & Sailor Larry Fancy

Have to say, I'm quite pleased with how this has turned out. In fact, I'm pleased how my art journals are different from each other. My aim is to explore and try out new styles and I think I'm achieving it. TTFN!

A few weeks ago, my LO was picked at DigiDares (Dare#266) and I won a few coupon codes to various stores. As I do have access to these two designers, I'm quite happy to give my coupons away. The designers are:

Val C. Designs @ Zig Zag Scrap

The coupons are worth US$10 each and valid till the end of April. So if you fancy trying digi scrapping or would like new kits, leave a comment here. Let me know which designer you prefer. I'll pick two random winners on Tuesday. TTFN!

~ Christmas Cards All Year 'Round: April ~

~ Pink Reptile Designs: Numb3rs ~

I love technique challenges. Most digi forums show you a particular technique with PS/PSE and get you to try it out on the LO. I do pick up a few tips from there. Over at Zig Zag Scrap (ZZS), there's a masking technique and I love to use masks on LO. Got myself a couple of mask kits from Pink Reptile Designs and here's my LO:

A recent photo of hubs' birthday, celebrated when we were on holiday.

I used a Numb3rs kit by Pink Reptile Designs. I adore this kit as there is so much in there about numbers and it was just so appropriate for the theme I was doing. I also included a Birthday Word Art from Anna Aspnes too. TTFN!

~ Val C. Designs: Courage ~

Val has come out with a new kit entitled Courage, available at Zig Zag Scrap.

I'm showing the bundled version but kit is available separately too.

Here's my LO & art journal created using this kit:

My boys having a go at the games in the Cadbury stand at the Bull Ring.

Girl image from Beth Rimmer's Junque Journal.

Colours in this kit are rich and gorgeous! TTFN!

~ Art Journal Caravan: Itinerary#9/11/13 ~

While on holiday, I managed to catch up on my Art Journal Caravan. I did Itineraries #9, 11 and 13. I went for the words.

 Itinerary#9.
The word was 'serendipity' and when I found this quote, the whole picture came together!

Itinerary#11.
This took a while to form. I was playing with Tangie's Seaside Art Dolls and I created this particular doll. As soon as I saw her, I knew where I was going with this particular word 'kismet'.

Itinerary #13.
When I saw this image of the men, I knew I wanted to use them. Then I found this particular quote and suddenly, my art journal was formed. I'm not here to stir controversy about the disease but it's my way of remembering those who died from this dreadful disease.

Have to say, I'm quite pleased with my art journey so far. I'm really enjoying it and it's stretching my imagination a lot! TTFN!

~ Easter Fun @ ZZS ~

Zig Zag Scrap had some Easter fun at their forum and I played along. There was a blind scrap challenge whereby info was given on a LO and we had to scrap based on the info given. Here's my LO:

All supplies by Val C. Designs.

Can't say I followed closely. I was a bit out but I had fun! TTFN!

~ I'm Back! ~

From a short break. We spent a few days at Burnham on Sea at a caravan site and explored the surrounding areas. We did hang out a lot at the Pier in Weston Super Mare as the boys love the arcade there. Hubs even found a fabby seafood restaurant and we went back twice for a meal! We visited Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole Caves. The boys preferred the latter as there was more entertainment there. As for weather, it rained on one day we were there but as we were visiting caves, it didn't bother us. The other days were fine. Oh well, when you live here, you just have to make the most of the weather, be it rain or shine!

An art journal I did when on holiday.

On the last day, we headed out to Minehead and visited Dunster Castle. Even had time to check out the beach. All I can say that the beaches we visited weren't conducive for playing... pretty muddy in my opinion. The main thing, we all had a good break, boys did their usual Easter egg hunt in the caravan, we celebrated hubs' birthday and explored new areas. What more can we ask for!!! TTFN!

~ Shopping ~

Did some birthday shopping today as it's hubs' birthday next Monday. Ordered him a cake from the Chinese bakery and hunted around the Bull Ring for a present. First stop, the Animal store but nothing caught my eye. However, a small stall outside selling handbags caught my eye instead. The bags were quite unique, unlike those sold in the High Street and the prices, very reasonable! As a result, I treated myself to this:

I thought the design was rather unique and I luv the colours. The bag came in 3 different colour scheme (black&white, black, white & red and the multicolour as seen above. You can see which one I chose (dun possess a multicolour bag until now). The bag has two large pockets on the side and for the interior, a zipper pocket and one for handphone.

The stall only sold one of each design and the bags came from China. I suspected as much. When I was in Shanghai a couple of years ago, I had to stop myself buying too much bags and shoes! I'm so glad I discovered this stall as it's gonna be my usual haunt from now onwards! Gonna check in every couple of months to see what they have. I do change my handbags often!

I didn't forget my hubs... found him a Superdry jumper (which I'm sure he will like as he's a fan of that brand). I also managed to get a Groupon offer for one of our fav restaurants so will have to find a free nite to go out. Today has been a rather productive day! TTFN!

~ AnnaLift ~

It tried to snow today! Thank goodness, it only resulted in rain instead! Suddenly, the warm weather we had last week was shortlived! Thought it was too good to be true. Let's hope it's just a passing pressure thingy and not the entire Easter break!!!

It was laundry day too.... spent the entire afternoon ironing (not done for 2 weeks so you can imagine the pile). Thank god for afternoon programmes to keep me occupied.

Finally found some time to scrap at night and did an AnnaLift (which is basically using another person's LO as inspiration point and using Anna Aspnes' products!) Here's mine:

I lifted the warped frames from the original LO. Our first BBQ last Sunday when it was sunny and lovely. Didn't eat out though, not warm enough yet!

Let's hope the weather is better tomorrow... need to do some birthday shopping. TTFN!

~ Art Journal Caravan: Itinerary#5 ~

For Itinerary #5, I went for the word 'enigma'. I found a perfect quote for it and somehow, my page evolved around it.

Supplies:
Tangie: She Journals, AJC11 Parcel 30 & Splatter Graffiti She
Finecrafted Designs: Wild Rides
Anna Aspnes: Descriptive Word Transfers No1 & Cool Glow No1
Maya de Groot: The Art Of Journaling
Fonts: Endpoints, DuvalOutline & Elise

It's funny how as soon as I saw the quote, suddenly ideas came flowing and this page quickly came about! Before that, I was pondering how to do it! TTFN!

~ Pink Reptile Designs: Rated T For Teens ~

Tackled another challenge from Zig Zag Scrap (ZZS), a Font challenge to use Dandelion In The Spring. Fairly easy one to do. Played with another kit by PRD entitled 'Rated T For Teens'.

Here's my LO:

Made use of a template by Jeanye Labaya's Whodunit although I took away a lot of the flowers that were in it!

Time to do dinner... TTFN!

~ 365 Cards: Day 34 ~

This week we are sponsored by DRS Designs.

Today's challenge is entitled 'A Certain Sentiment'. The sentiment is 'cheers'. Here's my card:

~ Pink Reptile Designs: Simply Chic ~

Woke up super early this morning, like 6.30am, as my son insisted on going to school early so that he could attend the Breakfast Club. Usually the hubs brings him but he had to go out early for an appointment! So there I am, on my Easter break, waking up at ungodly hour! Anyway, at 8.30am, went to the surgery to get a doctor's appointment. Calling gets me no where as it's constantly engaged! Besides, I was also told by the nurse that showing up in person is more likely to get me an appointment! So managed to get one for today at 10.50am! Spend the rest of the morning scrapping while waiting for my appointment.

Decided to start an early start on challenges. Tackled Zig Zag Scrap Template challenge and used PRD's Simply Chic kit.

Here's what I came up with:

One done and many more to go... TTFN!

~ Art Journal Caravan: Itinerary#4 ~

Catching up on my Art Journal Caravan Adventure. I've not been doing it in order so went back to see which ones I've miss.

For Itinerary#4, I chose to document my phobias... I do have a couple but this one bugs me most ... pocrescophobia. It means the fear of gaining weight or becoming fat! Not something to take lightly but having been plump before (in my early 20s) and having managed to get rid of it, I vowed never again to be in that state! Hence, I did an art journal to document my fear...

Supplies:
Deviant Scrap: I'm With The Band Collab Kit
Beth Rimmer: Steamtown Art Dolls
Sherrie JD: Bare Naked Ladies & Flora Finery
Maya de Groot: The Art Of Journaling
Font: Roughage

I had fun with this! TTFN!

Sunday 1 April 2012

~ Oscraps: Evolution ~

Every month, Oscraps release a collaboration kit and this month's kit is called Evolution. The colours are very lovely and so versatile for scrapping.

Here's what I've done with the kit:

The wee on had a dressing up day that day.

The kit contains 63 papers and 158 elements. That is one heck of a kit! TTFN!

~ Pink Reptile Designs: Me Time ~

Brilliant day today... hubby's preparing the BBQ and I'm scrapping! Great start to an Easter break!

I lost no time in checking out the products of Pink Reptile Designs and downloaded a few to play with. One particular product caught my eye... Me Time, a collab kit by PRD & Ju Kneipp Designs.

Teamed with a template from Jeanye Labaya's Whodunit, here's my LO:

Fun, fun, fun! Never used that much flowers before as I'm not usually a flowery person! TTFN!
