Unfortunately, the UK don't celebrate CNY. It sucks and I give anything to be in Singapore right now to soak up the atmosphere & food of course! Man, what I would give for pineapple tarts, hay bi rolls, kueh bo loo, bak kua, and all the seasonal goodies! Sigh!

It's the Year of the Dragon, a very auspicious year for the Chinese. No doubt hospitals in the Far East will be preparing for a baby boom! Hubs and eldest are born in this year too. TTFN!

~ Digital Art Journaling: Lesson2 ~

So glad it's quiet this weekend. Boys had extra curricular activities in the morning but when they were done, we all chilled out at home! Well, I sorted out the laundry as I had loads to wash (did it 3 times)! Then it was time to catch up on my Digital Art Journaling class at Jessica Sprague.

I've done art journaling on my own but I'm so glad I took the class as I've learnt an amazing amount of techniques which will surely come in useful when I do digi scrapping. I learnt how to use new tools in Photoshop. It's definitely worth the money spent!

Anyway, Lesson 2 focussed on home. So here's my assignment piece:

While doing this art journal page, I made sure I implemented the techniques that she taught. My idea for this page is to show that no matter which continent I may be in, home is where I made it to be. Hence the 2 globes showing 2 continents, Asia & Europe.

Have to say, this class taught me a lot about brushes. I never really used them but I'm beginning to turn to them a lot and loving how useful they are. They are a bit like stamps and I used to use stamps a lot on my paper pages so I'm glad to have found a substitute. TTFN!

Two days of workmen in the house to sort the boiler left me quite busy. Hence, when I had time at night, I had to create. Did another 2 pages for my Dec Daily album. I'm determined to finish it!

Day 13: Christmas cards made for that month, not necessary on that day.

Day 24: Christmas Eve. I usually give the boys an early Xmas gift - new set of PJs before the big day. Well, if they are gonna open their presents in their PJs, might as well wear a new one! The wee one wasn't that impressed!

~ Lovely Surprise! ~

It started out as a normal day, until I started surfing and found a very surprised message, inviting me to join the creative team of Val C. Designs at Zig Zag Scrap. Apparently she had seen my gallery on Oscraps. I had a look at her designs and liked what I saw so I said yes!

I'm glad she likes what I've been creating! I'm still on a learning curve and enjoying the process as I go along. I now wish I had gone digi ages ago!

On the home front, we had our heater replaced! Seeing that it only lasted 6 years, that isn't very good! In fact, I sometimes wonder if all those guys who came and serviced it made it worst! Each time we had our heater serviced, they screwed it up bad. The worst was this chap who came and literally made it a wreck. It was working perfectly before he laid his fingers on it! In fact, he was on the phone while trying to service, asking for help how to do it. I had a bad feeling about him and I was right. In the end, he said he couldn't get it to work and apologised! I blew my top as it was working fine before he came. Subsequently, it never recovered from his mishandling and further services resulted in the heater becoming worst and worst! In fact, the latest service by British Gas resulted in the heater constantly tripping (it didn't before, well, not that frequent!) In fact, he opened it up, found a fault and couldn't fix it claiming it would cost more due to the part replacement. After that, the heater was tripping a few times in a day. Halfway during a bath, it would shut down and you end up with freezing cold water! I gave up turning on the heater during December and resorted to portable heaters. Thank god the weather was quite mild.

So we have a new Worcester heater and no more hot and cold water coming out when bathing (or just cold water!) Let's hope it can last us longer than the previous heater! TTFN!

~ Digital Art Journaling: Lesson1 ~

In December, I treated myself and bought some classes at Jessica Sprague (the 20% discount sure helped swayed me to them). Still a novice to Photoshop, I'm constantly trying to learn new skills. Anyway, one of the classes was a Digital Art Journaling. It started today and I can't say how pleased I took it. I sure as hell learnt new techniques and how to use some tools in PS.

Anyway, the prompt for Lesson 1 was 'heart'. So here's my effort:

I found a quote that I liked and incidentally it belonged to Steve Jobs. So a quick hunt found this photo of him. Well, the creative juices started rolling and therefore this art journaling came about! The size is 5.25x8". Why so that I can print it out and stick them into a book.

~ Another Weekend Gone! ~

The first weekend of the New Year is gone! Can't say it was quiet as the boys had music activities on Saturday. Thankfully, we spend a quiet Sunday chilling out while the boys got on with their homework. Yup, routine has started. Boys have a Grade 4 violin exam coming up in March so they are gonna be busy practising a lot.

Gosh, after a 3 week hiatus, I went back to my exercise regime. Gosh, the instructor really worked us hard! You would have thought she would start slowly but nooooo, she really worked our limbs!!! I was ready to quit after half an hour but I persevered! Still I really enjoyed it and I have to admit that I didn't ached! I was tired but my limbs took it well. And I ate like a horse after!

Here are some gifts that I created last month for teachers. I altered 2 clipboards and some spice jars. I also created a poster featuring a teacher's quote.

I bought an Alice in Wonderland kit by Mr Whiskers and had a fun play with it!

An altered clipboard, using just a single 12x12 sheet of double-sided patterned paper.

Another altered clipboard, again using a single double-sided sheet of patterned paper. It didn't fit the clipboard fully hence the tissue tapes in the middle.

Altered spice jars containing sweets for the assistant teachers. I decorated 2" circles with digital images and punched them out with a scalloped punch.

Finally a basket of sweets for my colleagues. Played with my trusty Cuttlebug and cut out those tags.

~ Day 2 Of The New Year ~

The last of the public holiday before work and routine commence. Woke up in Poole (been there since Friday to celebrate the New Year with SIL). We had lunch at Burley, a small village with which had unusual shops. The wee one wanted a wand and we managed to find one in a shop called 'The Coven of Witches". They even sold a broom stick which the wee one wanted but I drew a line on that! Both have gotten into Harry Potter films lately and are acting out the characters at home. So obviously they need a wand!

On the creative side, the Oscraps designers released a collaboration kit entitled 'Warm and Cozy'.

Lucky me got a chance to play with it and here's a LO that I created:

Welcome 2012!

A new year. Have to get used to writing 2012 now. It's also the year of the Dragon too, an auspicious year for the Chinese (probably see more babies born this year in the Far East). It happens to be the year for hubs & eldest too!

What did we do? We took a walk on the beach in Bournemouth and then shopping! Went into Beales and managed to get some dresses in the sales. Then checked out Fat Face and hubby got me my Xmas present, a winter coat (I usually wait until post Xmas sales to get my pressie as I loathe the thought of paying at full price. A day's difference and the price varies considerably!!!)

The weather was dire! It was drizzling initially while we were walking along the beach, then came a heavy downpour whereupon we quickly had a bit of retail therapy.

Anyway, I leave with a last LO done in the last day of December.

All I can say is the days are passing by way too quickly! I've been enjoying the Xmas break and it's a welcome relief from school runs and routines. Managed to track down the iron I wanted and this is it:

A Russell Hobbs steam generator iron. Got it off Amazon for a fraction of what is selling in Argos! Just have to wait for a slightly longer delivery time!

One of my Christmas presents to MIL is a calendar set that I made:

I used the calendar kit by Paislee Press. They are 5x7" and each month is showcased in a frame (which can be changed for each month). The entire calendar was done using various supplies by Anna Aspnes.

Finally, squeezed in some time to create this LO (despite having other stuff to do). Had the idea in mind after seeing a similar LO.

I always document the wish lists of my boys but decided to do something different this year. I learnt how to extract figures using the quick selection tool (the net & YouTube are great resources). Luv the whimsical figures of my boys! Majority of supplies from Anna Aspnes. This is Day 12 of my December Daily 2011 album.

So I needed a 5x7" photo frame but can I find it in the shops? Went to 3 places (B&M, Next & Asda) and found nothing to buy. 2 of them didn't even had any in their stores! Gave up as I didn't want to waste my time chasing after it! So annoying!

Created another LO based on a technique challenge at DHD. The technique was to make use of a layer mask. Never used it before and found it very useful tool. I had to surf around to find out more about this tool and I think I'm gonna be using it much more now!

I stamped with 2 different brushes and used the layer mask to make the stars lighter. LO created using Agnes Biro/Dido Designs' Winter Whisper kit.

~ Spring Clean! ~

Hubs went back to work today and I was busy sorting the house out. First stop was the lounge whereby it had gotten into a state of anarchy! Cleared the room of any Xmas wrapping papers and sorted out the winter apparels (gloves, scarves & hats). Then it was the outer house that need clearing up. Typical hubs had simply chucked black bags (which contained god knows what!) out there so it was time to sort them out properly. Threw out loads of rubbish and packed stuff away! Thankfully he did dinner so that I could finish the spring clean. I'm still not done but I'll get there somehow!!!

Next on the list to get is a good iron. I'm not opposed to ironing, in fact, I do like ironing, just hate folding up clothes and putting them away! However, the current iron I have is bloody useless! Never ever buy an iron without doing some research. It takes ages to iron out any creases so much so that I've now got a mountain load of clothes waiting to be ironed as I can't bear to use the iron we now have. Been checking out reviews for certain irons and might be edging towards a steam generator one. Watch this space!

~ Post Christmas Shopping! ~

So we had to go to Selfridges (in Birmingham, not London) today as one of the toys we bought was faulty. I took the opportunity to visit the Cath Kidston section. I saw a bag online that I wanted, however, when I saw it in real life, it didn't appeal! Checked out others but nothing really stood out! Didn't want to buy for the sake of buying so I left it (hubs was surprised when I left empty-handed!) The Bull Ring was heaving with people. Kinda put me off shopping really as I disliked crowds and aimless shopping! I usually shop if I have something I wanna buy but I really can't be bothered to just shop for the sake of it! The only stuff we bought were stationery for the boys as they wanted pencil cases and pencils!!!

Anyway, came home and did some scrapping. Here's one that I made for a challenge:

The year's coming to an end soon. This has been a pretty good year for me, craftwise. I made the move to digital, found myself on the design teams of Scrap 365 and Oscraps and the best part, had more disposable cash to treat myself (now that I'm not buying any scrapping stash! My collection of handbags and shoes have expanded since then as well as the occasional massage!) My new year resolution is to get rid of the existing scrapping stash that I owned. Doubt very much I will go back to paper scrapping. It doesn't interest me anymore. I do it if I have to (eg. assignments) but it's more fun scrapping digitally. Whatever I sell will go into the funds for a new Macbook Pro! Roll on 2012!!! TTFN!

Not many countries celebrate Boxing Day. To me, it's another public holiday (heaven knows we seriously need it in this country as we probably have the smallest number of public holidays in Europe!!!) It was another lazy day for us. The boys played with their new toys while I caught up on scrapping. I had a few LOs that needed to be done.

As part of Simply Tiffany Studios creative team, I was lucky to be enrolled in Tiffany's class Holiday Templates 2011. It was a 25 day class starting from Dec 1 to Dec 25. Picked up some great tips from the class. I had to create some LOs though but it was fun using the templates that she designed. The class came with 2 free kits from Creshens & Paislee Press, both great digi designers. Here's what you get from this class:

The first three were created before the class. The next five were done during Xmas & Boxing Day. They all made use of Tiffany's templates which certainly made scrapping them much faster. TTFN!

It's a quiet Christmas for us this year! We are at home. Hubs cooked a turkey and we had a scrumptious Christmas meal. Thankfully not too much leftover as I don't fancy eating turkey for the next few days!!! We bought the turkey from M&S and hubs made the sauce from the cooked turkey. Big mistake as it was too lemony!

The boys thankfully didn't wake up too early. They did get up and woke us up, all excited to open their presents. Luckily we didn't disappoint! They didn't have a list as they didn't know what they want (so we had to buy it blind!) Can't go wrong with Lego!

I spent the day watching cartoons mainly... there were quite a few cartoon movies on the various channels so it was nice to watch them with the boys.

~ Le Weekend! ~

Another busy weekend again. This time it was my SIL's wedding to her Scottish fiance. She had enlisted me to help with the favours and decorations. The wedding was held in a hotel in the Windermere, at the Lake District. Beautiful place and thankfully no snow! Have to say, this year's weather has been rather mild.

The celebration started on Friday night. We stayed the night at the hotel and met some of the guests. The next day, both the wedding ceremony, meal and party was held in the same venue (thank goodness!) It was a brilliant day. I was her witness as well. Now looking forward to the photos. As I was involved throughout the day, I didn't get much chance to take a lot of photos. Anyway, managed a LO of the evening:

Created a couple of LOs late in Nov for some challenges and never got round to uploading them. So here they are:

Both LOs were done for Nov challenges on Design House Digital. The Cranberry Frost kit is an absolutely fabulous kit to play with. The colours are just too lovely!

Had a night out with the members of the PTA group in the Infant School. Yup, I still help out despite my son not being in the Infants anymore! I'm out again tomorrow, this time with my colleagues in the school that I work. It's a curry night and I'm looking forward to it! I could seriously do with staying at home and working on my magazine assignment!!! TTFN!

After the weekend excitement and battling with cough and cold, managed to get a LO done. It's the 2nd last week of term and as usual, there's load of activities for the boys, with me being the chauffeur! But I just had to create... it's such a stress reliever!

In the spirit of Christmas, my boys were asked to bask for Christian Aid last year. It happened to snow very heavily that day but we made it to Solihull Town Centre. Not many kids turned up but between them (5 kids), they managed to raised £70 for an hour's play!

I made use of a free kit available from Pen Scrappers. They are holding a digi competition at the moment. The free kit has supplies from Anna Aspnes, Tiffany Tillman and Renee. Quite a fun kit to play! TTFN!

The weekend was rather busy for me. Attended my SIL's hen weekend. It started on Friday and ended on Sunday. I had an enjoyable time.

Friday

Friday night was spent at Oxford town centre. All 8 of us had dinner at Azizi, an Italian restaurant, but the food was terrible! The starter was good but the main meal fell flat. Didn't like my risotto at all! Another gal's meal was dead cold and after changing it twice, she gave up. We got a 10% off the bill for that! Not sure if it was the crowd or bad chef! Definitely won't go back there for sure! We all headed back as we had a full day the next day.

Saturday

We had breakfast at the hotel before heading out for our hen do activities. The organiser had booked us to do clay shooting and hovercrafting. We did the clay shooting first. I have to say, I quite enjoyed it but the gun was terribly heavy. Managed to shoot 2 out of 14 hits! Then it was onto the hovercraft. There is no brakes and it relied a lot on body movement to steer the hovercraft. Did terribly the first time but managed it better the second!

Lunch was at a Garden Centre, just scone, jam and clotted cream! We headed back to the hotel to rest before setting out again, this time to The Living Room at Oxford town centre. Food was relatively much better. I had steak and it was really good! There was also a live band too. In fact, the entire place was pleasant to be in. The girls played a few games, as you can imagine. I have to say, the guys, who were chosen, were quite accommodating as well. Then, we moved on to a club called The Junction. It was fairly empty so we managed to get a place to sit (although it did fill up quite rapidly later in the evening). Can't say I stayed long as I left before midnight with a few other ladies.

Sunday
Had breakfast at the hotel and then checked out at 11am. Took me roughly an hour to drive back. The boys had a Christmas party at Cubs/Scouts so left them there and did some Christmas shopping. I spent the night clearing out the 'walked-in' wardrobe. It's where I have my handbags and hub's suits are stored. It does get dusty so had a good clearing out. Didn't realise how much handbags I actually possessed! Seriously, I think I've got an addiction to them!

~ December Daily 2011 ~

Last year, I started an album in December, documenting what I did in the month of December. I did it digitally and actually completed the album! Yay! I enjoyed the process so much that I wanted to do it again this year. This year, I've called it December Daily (title taken from Ali Edward's journaling album). Basically, I will document what I do each day (if it's interesting enough!). Here's the first day of December:

Advent Calendars and Christmas tree dominated the first day of December. I had created those Advent Calendars years back and merely filled them with choccies for my boys! I did try to buy one but could I find any on the first day of Dec? Nada! The boys begged to set up the Christmas tree so hubs took them down from the loft to satisfy their cravings! Nice to see them so enthusiastic about it! Save me the trouble!

Well, in the US, it's the day after Thanksgiving which translate to sales galore! We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK but any sales are welcome!

Lots of digital stores are having sales at the moment. Trying my best not to splash too much as I did quite a bit at the Digital Scrapbooking Day sales. Oscraps is offering a free Collaboration kit if you spend US$10 and above.

It was laundry day today! Cleared 4 baskets of unfolded clothes (thankless task) and ironed a mountain load of clothes. And despite chucking clothes into the washing machine today, I still have a basket full of clothes to wash! Seriously, where do they come from?!!

Spent the afternoon and evening helping my SIL. She engaged me to help her sort wedding favours, table planner and place card holder etc. Well, it was fun to see it all coming together but it was hard work getting it together. We are due another meet up to finalise everything before the big day!

Managed to create a LO late last nite. These days, it's so hard to scrap during the daytime as there is so much to do.

Yup, I'm on the Oscraps Creative Team.... what it means... apart from forum duties, I get to play with all the designers' digital supplies there! OMG! I'm thrilled to bits. It's also a great opportunity to discover other designers too.

I discover the Oscraps forum last month as I've been looking for a digital forum to join. My favourite designer, Anna Aspnes moved there in September and I started looking around there. Then in October, I took part in challenges and slowly made the forum, my home. By chance I came across the CT call announcement in the forum and decided to throw my hat in.

Well, got the email last Wed offering me a position! Talk about shock and disbelief but totally delighted! Well, I certainly look forward to creating now... got an excuse to do it! TTFN!

Haven't had the chance to play as I was doing some housekeeping... the trouble with digital supplies is that they do take up a lot of disk space. So I hunted down an external hard disk and moved my digi supplies over there (my entire iPhoto library of digi supplies). Have to make sure I backed it up regularly now! At least it has freed 50+ GB off my MacBook.

Today, I managed to do a few LOs. I was dying to use my new digi supplies that I bought over the weekend!

I downloaded a kit from the designers of DHD while blog hopping their blogs. An awesome kit with tons of lovely elements!

Finally, a LO created for 2 challenges at Oscraps, AnnaLift and 'What You Bought' Stash challenges.

Gosh, it feels good to create again! If only there was more than 24 hrs in a day to just create and play!

Didn't realise that it existed but hey, it does and there are loads of sales going around! Well, when you have a sale, you gotta take advantage of it! And I did! Stocked up on supplies with my favourite designer, Anna Aspnes at Oscraps! Ongoing is the Hobbycraft show at the NEC but no desire to visit as I'm into digi now. Still, I did spend a fair amount on digi supplies although considerably less than what I would have spent on paper stash!

~ Gem Of A Babe! ~

Well, it was time to say goodbye to my car of nearly 10 years, my Renault Clio Dynamic. It served me well and I had a lot of fun with that car. Best of all, it gave me no hassle nor trouble. It was truly a fab car!

And late today, I picked the keys to my new babe, Kia Soul Shaker. Hubby surprised me last Saturday. He went to the Kia garage and found this gem of a babe which literally ticked all the boxes that I wanted in a car, namely, Bluetooth (for mobile photo), USB port (for my iPhone) and a sunroof (I need it as I feel quite claustrophobic if there isn't one!) And the car came with additional extra like a rear view camera (to aid in reversing!) Bonus! Oh and did I say it sit high, like a 4x4 (another of my likes too)!

Lots of reflection from the lighting above but this was taken at the back of the garage's.

As I said goodbye to my old car, I did shed a few tears... call me a sentimental fool! It was my first car when I moved to the UK so not surprising I was quite attached to it! Anyway, I'm not in a habit of changing cars, so this one will be with me for the next 10 years I guess. It's not brand new but it's barely a year old and has done 5k miles. However, the price was right for what hubs was prepared to pay for it! My dad told me the car would have cost about S$110k (£55k) in Singapore!!! I guess this is one advantage of living in the UK, no COE to pay nor exorbitant price for cars!!! TTFN!

We had 3 visitors tonite for trick or treats. Those kids look so adorable in their costumes. My boys were moaning they did nothing for Halloween... well, not my fault, their aunt was supposed to organise a Halloween party but she chickened out! Enough said!

Anyway, recently discovered some challenges at Oscraps, a digi forum I've been hanging out lately. So had a play and came up with these:

A Creative Technique challenge based on Selena's gallery. I chose her Magic Circle LO and lifted her title.

A Colour challenge using either Halloween colours or Autumn colours. No guessing which one I chose!

A Copycat challenge based on a template.

A Camera Corner challenge asking for a collage of photos. Well, made use of my Project 365 app.

A Web Inspiration challenge based on a given picture. I chose to focus on the autumn aspect instead of the Halloween accessories.

An O Stash challenge. 10 'ingredients' were given and you had to use 7 to create a LO. I used 9. Incidentally, this LO was also chosen in Gallery Standouts Blog. What an honour!

Can't believe we are at the end of October! Time is sure passing by quickly! TTFN!

It's half term, very much awaited for and it's so nice to just chill out at home in PJs and not be rushing about. Can't say for the next few days as we have visitors.

Anyway, got some time for myself and created a few stuff...

This LO was based on a scraplift by Anna as seen here. As usual, added a bit more touches to it and played with blending modes.

I bought a Rock It kit from Anna Aspnes and was wondering how best to use it. I loved the images in that kit. Then, it struck me to use it as a tribute to singers. First on my list is Freddy Mercury. I happened to be listening to Queen and the page just came together! Image of Freddy Mercury was sourced from the net as well as the quote.

I'm in the process of creating another photobook but this time with photos. Can't say I'm having an easy time as it's a very tedious process and haven't found a way to do it manually. At the moment it's slotting in photos for me which I thoroughly dislike! Will persist and see how it goes... TTFN!

~ Busy Weekend ~

So we decided last minute on Friday night to book a trip to Legoland. We searched and found a hotel for Sat night and 4 tickets to the theme park the next day for a bargain price. On Saturday, we headed to Windsor and decided to visit Windsor Castle. I thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a earphone guide to explain what was going on and it was so helpful. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been there. We also managed to get our tickets upgraded to a year's visit too. Then it was off to Sheraton's hotel near Heathrow airport. Gosh, every 2 minutes, there was a plane coming down. Talk about non-stop noise! Luckily, once in the hotel room, it wasn't so bad. But I do feel for the houses in that area. In fact, while we were at Windsor, it was along the flight path and therefore, we could hear a plane heading towards Heathrow almost every 2 minutes! Even Windsor Castle wasn't spared from that!

Sunday saw us at Legoland. I have to admit, I got very bored and didn't enjoy it one bit! My boys didn't fancy many of the rides either. I think it's because they are now slightly older and some of the rides were more for kids below 8. We did go on some rides namely The Dragon, The Dragon Apprentice, The Viking etc. We did visit Alantis. We queued for a good 40 minutes before being told due to technical difficulties, the ride was canceled but they did give us a ticket for fast access to other rides or to return at a later time. We did return. The ride was sitting in a submarine and seeing sea creatures underwater. I think we were in it for less than a minute before we were out again. Frankly to queue for an hour to see something for a minute... I think I'm better off visiting the Sealife centre. The queue for that particular attraction was rather long most of the time so much so that there was even a booth selling refreshments in case people needed a snack. The highlight of the event was the fireworks which started at 6.30pm. We were lucky to be there for that particular weekend they were having the fireworks. It was spectacular.

Would I go back to Legoland... definitely not! I think my boys have outgrown that particular theme park. TTFN!

Had a glorious lie-in today. After picking up my boy from orchestra practice, we headed to the Chinese restaurant for tim sum, one of my fav meals! Then we had to stock up on rice and noodle at the Wing Yip. The evening saw us watching Johnny English at the cinema. Man, he's a scream. He had me laughing from the beginning to the end. My boys had been begging us to bring them to see that movie. Definitely worth a watch! They are now waiting for a DVD release.

Managed to squeeze in some time to create. Been getting a few digi kits and wanted to try them out:

This LO was created for the The Pumpkin Challenge at Oscraps. They are having a Halloween weekend at the moment. They combined with The Lily Pad and have come out with a Halloween collaborative kit. They are also having a blog hop whereby you can download some freebies along the way. The kits are lovely but I've got wayyy too many Halloween kits at the moment. They even have a special category on its own in iPhoto. This LO made use of mostly Anna Aspnes' ArtPlay Palette Wicked & Spirited. The photos were taken at Paris Disneyland in Oct 2008.

Got an art class tomorrow to conduct! Need to prepare my materials. TTFN!

Had a really busy day today but managed to squeeze time to do a bit of art journaling. It's getting quite addictive.

Ok, this is rather weird but hey, it's art journaling and I can chuck whatever I want onto my page!

Anyway, my reason is to show that Autumn signifies death... i.e. dropping of leaves, getting less daylight hours etc. Not my favourite season. Hence the skeletal image. Then I found this quote and somewhat added more meat onto the skeletal frame! My logic... TTFN!

Well, while surfing around digiland, I came across a lot of art journaling pages, all digitally done. It was too good not to give it a try and I did! I managed to download a free Art Journaling kit by Maya de Groot (Oscraps) and give it my first try!

A mixture of Maya de Groot and Anna Aspnes kit in this page. I must say, it's quite fun doing it as it's art in its free form! You can basically chuck anything onto it!

Decided to do another based on Halloween:

This page consisted of kits from Anna Aspnes (ArtPlay Spirited, Wicked & Monster Treats) and papers from Maya de Groot's BackPacker Set 4.

These pages are done in 5x7", just in case I wanted to print them out and store them. It's easy to find 5x7 albums in the supermarkets. I think I'm bitten by the art journaling bug. The best part... no inky fingers! TTFN!

Had a busy weekend, all devoted to my boys' music activities. On Sunday, we attended one of their concerts. The wee one went off to a theme park with his Cubs group. Now need to download the photos taken at the concert to have a play!

Created this particular LO based on a scraplift challenge at Oscraps. My favourite designer Anna Aspnes set up her store there and well, I kinda followed her. She used to be at Designer Digitals. I absolutely adore her kits. Here's my LO although it looks nothing like the scraplifted LO (I did lift the circles though!)

Food takes a very special place in my heart especially chilli crabs! Ahhh, miss it dreadfully! Although there are more ways of cooking them now, I still prefer the traditional taste!

On the mundane side, sorted out my ever-increasing baskets of laundry! Did two loads of washing and ironed my mountain high of clothes! It had to be done. So now I can indulge in creating for the next few days! At least I don't feel guilty! Sorted out my car insurance too. Amazing what you can find online. My current insurance company wanted me to pay about £900.... they gotta be kidding. Anyway, a quick search using gocompare.com (who can forget that singing chap!!!) lead me to find a more reasonable amount of £300! So I'm a happy bunny! Car tax check! Car Insurance check! Next MOT in November! Yuks! TTFN!

How cool is that! Well, I'm the only one owning that particular catalogue! We were there last week and as we walked into the store, a lady invited my boys to be photographed so they could be on the catalogue. They recently renovated the entrance and did a lot of improvement to the Wednesbury store. I guess they were celebrating the changes to the store. There was even a balloon chap about who made a sword balloon for my boys! Anyway, while she was shooting them, I quickly took a snapshot of them as well.

While surfing the App store, I found this app called My Sketch (free app) which changes photo to sketches. There were a variety of sketches to choose from. Quite like this particular one!

On the creative front, my favourite designer came up with a musical kit! OMG! Exactly what I been longing for! So I got to work as soon as I downloaded it...

My Summer Vacation Album!

I had to go to the PO to collect it. Typical! It has to come when I'm at work so I had to wait a good 24hrs before being able to collect it from the PO. Why 24hrs, b'cos it's mentioned on the slip! I did once try to go on the same day but at a later time and was gently pointed to the 24 hrs mentioned on the slip!!! Oh well!

Anyway, I'm so pleased with it! It looks great to see your creations in print! Here are some sample pages:

First page. I decided to do a black border all round as opposed to having the LO fill the whole page.

Other pages. With the black border, it divided the pages better. I did try with the LO filling the whole page but thought it looked rather messy.

Phew! All assignments done! Such a relief when you finally email off the last of the assignments that is due!

In between all those assignments, I've created a couple of LOs for challenges...

This LO was based on 4 Play challenge at Design House Digitial whereby every Monday, you can buy 3 kits for $1each and also get 1 kit free and you use those kits to create a LO. Have to say, it's so hard to scrap based on the kits given but a challenge is a challenge!

Another LO using 4 different kits to create. Again, so not my style but I've done it. I stuck to those four kits!

This month's objective is to clear out my scrap room as I need to turn it into a bedroom for my youngest son. Not giving up completely but it will now share a space in the lounge cum guest room cum study room! Anyone wants a 3 seater leather sofa, still in good condition? Need to get rid of that! TTFN!

OMG! I've finally finished my Summer Vacation 2011 album. Imagine scrapping 26 pages in the shortest period available just because the Groupon offer for a Photobook was gonna expire on 28th Sep!!! Talk about stress! But I did it which I knew I would anyway!

I had to re-do a couple of pages. Not easy trying to squeeze your 6 weeks vacation into 26 pages. I had to pick the best memories although I certainly could put in a few more! Managed to upload my pages to the site and ordered my Photobook. Took a while to sort the photos on the pages and I had to do something different. Let's hope it still looks good!

Parting is always so sad... but at least I didn't cry when I left... maybe I was just too knackered & was looking forward to trying to catch 40 winks on board!

~ What A Day! ~

Saturday is just another busy day for us. Eldest got into the Junior String Orchestra and therefore, he has 2 hours of violin practice every Saturday morning (it follows the school term's timetable). We all get early to bring him there and then go shopping/ran errands etc. Then in the afternoon, depending on schedules, they have a Suzuki workshop conducted by their violin teacher. Hence, Saturday is now dedicated to their music activities.

Today I received a letter from my son's new secondary school. I've been elected as a representative of his Year Group on the Parents' Consultative Committee. I did put my name down but was informed during the summer hols to write a statement as they received more applications than required. I did and thought no more of it. So I was rather surprised to get the letter today. Good to know that I can keep track on both my boys! I'm also a Governor of the Junior School.... they can run but they can't hide!

On the creative front, managed to create more pages for the summer album. As deadline to print is looming, it's quite stressful trying to churn out so many pages in such a short period of time. Anyway, here's my effort...

We went on a 4 day cruise to Penang, Malaysia & Phuket, Thailand. Had a great time and kinda renewed my interest in cruises!!!

For the first time of my life, I voted! There was a Presidential Election and it was so exciting to go to the voting centre to vote! Living overseas does have its disadvantage. I missed the General Elections early this year. There was overseas voting centres but I just couldn't get down to London that particular day. Nothing like being in the country and feeling the hustle and bustle of the Election process.

My boys' hair were terribly long, such that they were constantly being mistaken for gals... never mind that they were dressed like boys! We eventually managed to bribe them to cut it short. They did but we had to bring them to a Lego store for them to choose their toys! Well, at least they look like boys now! I even got mine cut as well.

Having a meal with some good friends & ex-colleagues. We always meet up whenever I'm there. They have a knack of nosing out good places for food! Seriously! The meal we had was just outta this world! Yum!

So much to do on our last day in Singapore! I had an early meetup with a couple of fab gals! We had beef noodles for breakfast but I wasn't too hungry... just upset about having to say goodbye to them. In the afternoon, daddy dearest cooked my favourite dish... chilli crabs! Yum!

I'm nearly done... just the arrival, departure pages & cover for album. My pages at the moment are photo & journaling intensive as I want to concentrate on the photos and tell a story. As soon as this album is over, I can concentrate on the artistic creation of pages. For now, it's just the facts! TTFN!

Finally, it's reveal time.... I'm part of the Scrap 365 Design Team. Gosh, wasn't easy not talking about it especially since we are talking about a new scrapping magazine!

I'm Audrey and I'm from the United Kingdom. A mom of 2 boys, my days are spent chauffeuring them to activities most of the time. And when I'm free, I indulge in my favourite pastime, scrapbooking. I've been scrapping for the past 7 years and the interest hasn't waned one bit! In fact, I'm now entering a new crafting arena, namely, digital. Previously stunned, due to the fact I enjoyed the tactile feature of paper scrapping, I turned to it late last year when lack of time to play with my stash forced me to consider digital scrapbooking. My first foray was doing pages for Journal Your Christmas using Apple's Pages software. The more I tinkered, the more addicted I got and when I finished the album, I became seriously hooked to digital scrapbooking. Having Photoshop on my Mac, I tried to use it but it simply confused me. Then early this year, I took as Jessica Sprague's Up And Running Class and she nailed the software for me! Suddenly, it was less daunting and so easy to use. I have to credit her class for teaching me how to use Photoshop properly and starting my path to digital scrapbooking. I now enjoy digital scrapbooking for the mere fact that I can literally scrap anywhere... all I have to do is bring my Macbook with me. So far, I've scrapped in a church, on a beach, in a car, on a plane, in the airport etc.

The crunch came when I applied for a DT position and was accepted as part of Simply Tiffany Studios Creative Team. Tiffany specialised in templates and I was only too delighted to be able to use them for scrapping. They sure as hell cut short the scrapping time!

I'm still trying to find my style with regards to digi scrapping. As a paper scrapper, my favourite embellishment was using stamps. I've got an enormous collection of them. Hence, not surprising I do try and mimic what I used to play before. Now digi brushes are a great substitute. I use them a lot in my digi creations.

As much as I enjoy scrapping pages digitally, I still do indulge in playing with paper from time to time. I make cards, tags, mini LOs (eg. 4x6) and off the wall projects. I contribute to 2 card blogs, 365 Cards & Christmas Cards All Year 'Round and am part of Banana Frog's Design Team.

When Katy, the editor of Scrap365, asked me to join the Scrap365 Team, I was delighted. As a contributor to Craft Stamper, I was only too happy to move from there to the new scrapbooking magazine. Having found out the features that the magazine would offer, it sure fitted my new interest perfectly.

Visiting Sentosa. Big mistake going on a public holiday... so crowded!

Meeting up with the Joylites in the morning. We saw each other every week where time permited and I 'hug' them for making the time for me! In the evening, we visited Clarke Quay as they had a Mooncake Festival of lanterns on display.

At the moment, I'm focusing more on photos and documenting events that took place. All these pages are gonna be printed out into a book. Still a few more pages to complete.... TTFN!

The background was created using distressed inkpad and sprayed with a white mist. The stamped images were coloured using Copic markers.

Have to say, the acrylic stamps stamp very well, took the ink quite well and gave a crisp image. Had fun playing with it! TTFN!

Boys were so excited when daddy could join them. Now the holidays really begin!

Meeting up with the Joylites. First time all five of us could meet up. Well, maybe tim sum was the dangling carrot!

We visited Universal Studios again and this time, we made sure we saw everything & rode on all the rides. I skipped the Human & Cylon roller coasters... the mere thought of being upside down just didn't appeal to me! The boys went on them twice! The second time unaccompanied!

Just some LOs to display from my summer album...

Brought the boys to ice skate although the ground wasn't in the least bit icy! Think they fell more than they skated!

Watching the fireworks from the National Day Parade Dress Rehearsal. Getting tickets to see this Parade is like gold dust! You can't buy it, you can bid for it and it's just luck if you get it!

Boys didn't swim that often this time around. Still, when they did, they enjoyed themselves.

A good friend that brought me out for walks in a very interesting place. As usual, we finished it off by eating! Nothing new in Singapore!

Just us having a meal with a friend at Sushi Express & then a drink at Raffles Hotel! Nice to know that my parents were on hand to babysit the boys! Well, they weren't too bothered about not going out!

I'm not too bothered about my pages being uniformed... it would bore me to tears! I rather have it colourful and the freedom to play and explore colours! Currently leaning towards Anna Aspnes designs and Webster Pages for these LOs!

On the mundane side, hubs and moi are planning to re-decorate certain rooms in the house! I'm giving up my craft room and turning it into a bedroom for my youngest. (How I'm gonna remove all the stash I've in that room is another matter...) We are gonna turn the lounge into a lounge cum study cum guest room. Whether or not we use it as a lounge is another thing as since we moved in, we have never ever use that room apart from being a dumping ground for coats! Yeah, when we have guests, we use it but on our own, it's straight to the bedroom where we watch TV in there. I guess we can kiss goodbye to the next few weekends as we re-paint, re-decorate and re-sort the respective rooms. I will have to get rid of a lot of stash as they will never fit into the new study which is much smaller than the existing room. Not that I mind but it's the tedious task of finding buyers for them!

I'm entering a different phrase in the crafting arena. I'm certainly leaning towards digi as it's more convenient and definitely cheaper to maintain as a hobby. Paper stash can be so costly. However, I'm still doing cards (can't bring myself to buy!) and will maintain a small amount of paper stash for DT purposes. But doing a paper LO will be a thing of the past! TTFN!

My gosh! A good friend of mine pointed out to me that I've been neglecting my blog! Well, the moment I arrived back in the UK, I was thrown into serious household chores. Hubs left me with 2 big baskets of clothes to put away, all his may I add! Then I had to sort the airing cupboard out as he out the shelves out from there for the boiler to be serviced (but it never happened, that's another story... ) and merely shoved everything back in the wrong order. Men! Can never leave them on their own! They just can't cope! Not to mention unpacking 8 luggage worth of clothes, toys, food etc that we brought back from Singapore. On top of that, a deadline to fulfil ... doing my pages for my son's album that needed to be printed out by a certain date! Even 24 hours wasn't enough for me! Friend of mine has been asking me out for coffee morning but had to take a rain check until later this month. Got a couple of deadlines to fulfil before this month ends!

On the crafting side, I managed to get my son's Year 6 album done and printed out into a Photobook. Have to say, I'm extremely proud of it. All events relating to him in that particular school year was chronologically documented, as much as I could within 21 pages! I'm sure I could do with a few more pages. Here are some of them:

School camp that he went. Unfortunately, couldn't get any photos of the camp activities as the school never put it on their blog. So it was whatever I took before he left.

A sponsored walk the school does every year.

A music workshop they both attended during a school day.

Experiencing snow during a school day. Well, their headmaster is opposed to closing down the school despite heavy snow!

Their annual Summer Fayre which I always help out.

Sports day - Year3&4 was held in the morning while Year5&6 in the afternoon. I took part in the parents race and came in first both times (had both boys in the 2 groups)! Good to know I got some points for their teams!

Some parents got together and organised a Prom Night for the Year 6 kids.

The above LOs were all digitally done. I would never have finished it if they were paper-based! It's much easier and fun doing it on the laptop as opposed to sitting on my scrapping table these days.

I'm currently doing an Album for my summer hols and it has got to be finished by the 25th this month. I should have done it during the hols but somehow, the mojo wasn't there! Well, paying the price for it now as I'm rushing through them. That's me! Always a last minute person but I know I will get it done! TTFN!

~ 365 Cards: Day 197 ~

So I'm back to doing cards again. Took a hiatus of 6 weeks but am back and raring to go! This week's challenge is to include beads on the card. Here's mine:

Pulled out my scraps (I've got piles of them) and a Magnolia girl coloured with Copics. Have to say, added more colours to my stash while I was in Singapore. It's so much cheaper to buy over there and with 15% off, who can resist?!!

I felt a little rusty when doing this card. I guess 6 weeks of inertia does create havoc with my mojo! Hopefully it will get better with more practice! I still have this year's Xmas cards to make as I've not been consistently making them throughout the months. I guess digi might come to the rescue if I ran out of time to do them! TTFN!

I'm still around, just been busy chilling out and enjoying the holidays! Makes a difference when you are in a different country! Anyway, as much as I would like to, I've not been keeping up to date with my vacation LOs. However, here are the few that I've done, gone for the 11x8.5 page!

I did mention there were a few stuff that I needed to do, well, got done halfway, not as much as I would like! I did, however, add more pens to my Copics collection. How not to when there's a 15% discount at the moment?!! Just have to restrain myself from going to the store constantly! Despite going digi, I still do like to colour in my stamped images (which I mainly use for cards).... rather therapeutic I find!

~ Banana Frog Hop ~

We are at the end of July and it's time for another Banana Frog Hop. As the theme is on Summer, I've got some summer treats lined up.

Just before my boys left school, I made up some summer treats for their teacher. As they have quite a few teachers that they want to give, I made up these little sour cream containers (instructions can be found here) from scrap patterned papers. For labels, I stamped a large star from Just About Stars set and used the Teen alphabets for names.

Using a souffle pen, I went over the name so that it was more visible.

As these containers were easy to do, I made quite a few and filled them with chocolates. They made a lovely summer treats especially if you have a fair number of teachers to give to!

Who says labels have to be boring! Now these can be tailored to any occasions depending on the colours that you used.

Finally the school term ended amidst much tears (more from my part) than my eldest. He leaves Junior school this term. In fact, he couldn't wait for it to end as he's looking forward to going to his secondary school, which, I guess it's good!

However, the last week of term was filled with tons of activities... school leavers performance, award ceremony, violin exams etc. Not to mention packing luggage. Hence, it will be a welcome relief to board the plane to start my summer hols! Never mind that I'll be in the air for a good 24 hours!

Well, I plan to catch up on my digi knowledge, lots of tutorial to go thru', lots of pages to create, lots of albums to fulfil! Yes, it's gonna be a busy summer hols for me but more a learning one. Let's hope I can accomplish at least half of them! TTFN!

Another busy weekend again.

Friday

Sent my wee one to camp. He was having a pirate theme camp for 3 days. He initially didn't want to go but I took no notice of that and he went. The Cub leader does an amazing job organising activities and I want him to enjoy the outdoor life. Well, he did have fun!

Saturday

A lot of errands to ran in the morning. Test drive 2 cars, Polo Match (very new) & Renault Modus. I preferred the latter due to the gadgets in there. Such a minefield when looking for a new car... so much to choose from... just make it so confusing.

In the evening, we sent our eldest off to his Prom Night. Yup, a group of parents organised a Prom Night for the Year 6 students. It was a grand affair. My boy wasn't into dressing up but I made sure he put on something decent! A good way to say goodbye to his friends as the majority have opted to go to another school.

While he was there, SIL and fiance came over and we headed off to an Indian restaurant. So nice to eat without the kids arounds. She has also asked me to help out with her wedding preparation so I guess I've got some work to do after my summer vacation.

Sunday

The morning saw us rushing to a recommended shop to get the eldest's PE kit. He has a compulsory list but the shop owner knew what we wanted and sorted us out! All his stuff will have his name on and hopefully, will last 2 years! With that sorted, I'm done with the boys' uniforms & shoes!

In the afternoon, we picked up the wee one from camp, got home then headed for their violin concert rehearsal. It lasted a good 2 hrs but it was worthwhile. They are due to perform at the Adrian Boult Hall this coming Friday based on the The Sound of Music theme. I now have to get some outfits for them for that day.

Managed to create another LO today as I haven't had the chance to sit down for the last few days.

My boys had their sports day last Friday and lucky for them, the weather was fine. The wee one had his in the morning while the older one was in the afternoon. Made sense otherwise it would have been too crowded on the field. This LO was based on the older one.

Not in the magazine sense! Finally, I received my Summer Vacation 2010 Album. It's bounded in a book. Have to say, it's an amazing feeling but can't say I'm thoroughly impressed with the printing though. Seems quite shoddy so I've shot a complaint. I expected the entire page to be covered but apparently, there's a margin at the top and side. It's annoying when you follow the rules given and it doesn't get printed out properly! Still it won't stop my publishing my works in a book format now. It certainly save a lot of space and you get to see your LO in print! Cool! Just have to find a good reliable company that prints out properly!

Well, will be doing this summer's vacation photos as a digi again and getting them printed. Bought a Groupon offer for a Photobook from another company ... hope they do a better job! TTFN!

~ Strike! ~

Due to the strike, the boys were off school but not me! So I went in the morning to do my time and conducted a general meeting with my team. It was a productive meeting as we raise several issues and clarified procedures. The boys had private violin lessons in the afternoon as their exams are drawing near and I'm getting nervous!

Lots of activities happening in the next few weeks. Can't believe how time has flown and there is only 3 weeks left to the school term. 3 weeks left for my eldest in the Junior School as he starts Secondary School in Sept. Gosh! Told my wee one to spend the next 3 weeks with his brother as it's the last time they both will be in the same school.

It's the eldest's birthday in 2 weeks time. He initially wanted a sleepover with his friends but we (hubs & moi) are not keen and suggested a family outing instead. So we'll be heading for a theme park instead. I just can't cope with boisterous, hormonal-raging boys even for a few hours! Gosh, my boys are noisy enough without several more adding to the picture!

The warm weather has enabled hubs to do a lot of DIY. He put in a new bath and fixed a leaky flat roof. We had a fair number of quotes for it but they were such a ridiculous amount that he decided to do it himself with the aid of You Tube. He certainly did a great job!

I'm off to a carboot this Sunday. Got a fair amount of stuff to get rid off, namely toys, clothes & stash! I've lost my desire to paper scrap and see no point in hanging on to the monstrous amount of stash that has been accumulated over the years! Sheesh, did I really buy that much?

On the organisation front, got my boys' uniform bought, thanx to MIL. She got them from M&S where there's a 20% discount off uniforms at the moment. Plus as a previous employer, she get another 20% off so talk about a saving! I've only the PE kit to get for the eldest. I'm getting them out of the way as I'm away during the entire summer hols so I don't have any time to buy them if I don't do it now! Even their shoes have been bought but only because they worn them out. Let's hope they don't have a sudden growth spurt!

It's definitely gonna be a busy 3 weeks ahead. There's PTA & Governors meetings to attend, violin concert as well as Leavers' Performance/Award Ceremony. Not to mention a lot of little events in between. So looking forward to the summer hols! TTFN!

~ What's Up With The Weather? ~

The day started brilliantly! It was warm and sunny. Actually it was very warm and humid. And this was the temperature I captured on my car at that particular time:

Seriously, I couldn't believe it! No wonder I was perspiring! But it didn't last long. It drizzled a little in the afternoon. Why can't it just stay hot?!!

On the creative front, I'm almost done with my Summer Vacation 2010 album. I'm ecstatic as all these years, I have always wanted to do a summer vacation album but never got it done. The closest I got was to decorate the album and that was it! But since going digi, it has been far easier to create pages and finally, my pages for the album is done. Now all that is left is to decorate the front cover and then I can sent them off to be printed into a Photobook. Not sure how it's gonna turn out as it will be my first time publishing it. Anyway, here are the last few pages...

I have deliberately kept these pages simple, i.e. not much embellishments as I'm not sure how it would look on a printed page especially in a book! Besides, I was racing against time so I needed them simple! I was lucky to get a Groupon deal on a Photobook hence that is why these pages will be printed. Off to edit them now. There are a couple of LOs whose colours need changing! TTFN!

Ok so I've been busy and have neglected my blog. There's so much things happening at the moment, especially this month! Let's see if I can show them instead!

First week of June... half term and we were down in West Dorset at West Bay. Booked a caravan for 4 days. Boys enjoyed themselves. They went crabbing and loved it! We spent time with our hub's sis and her family too.

The second week of June, we entertained some friends from Singapore. They were here for the weekend and we brought them to Cadbury World, which never fails to amaze any foreign guests! I managed to find a 20% discount coupon online which we used to buy the tickets! Gotta luv the internet!

A LO to document our trip to Cadbury World. For once, we were all looking at the camera on the Cadabra ride. I look fat (who wouldn't with a jumper under a coat!) but it was a particular cold day that day.... it literally rained all day! Darn weather!

The 3rd week of June was another busy week as we (hubs & moi) attended Parents' Evening in the new school of Oliver. We were pleased with what we saw and we got uniforms for him too. Then Oliver was off to camp that weekend!

The 4th week saw my youngest receiving Star of the Week cert. I had a text to attend his Assembly. (A LO will be coming soon!) Then, I had guests from Singapore again, who stayed over for a nite. We brought them around B'ham Town Centre and had dinner at Jimmy Spices! Finally, I received news that Oliver made it to the Birmingham Youth Orchestra. He had to audition for it and he got in! So chuffed for him and well deserved too! What that means... a 3 hr practise every Sat from 9am - 12pm from Sep onwards! Never mind that he will also be joining the School Band in his new school too.

It's the Summer Fayre at my boys' school tomorrow and I'm helping out. Fingers crossed for a sunny day! What does next week brings? Another Assembly attendance for the older boy and Sports Day! Sheesh! Who ever said the role of a mommy was a relaxing one!!! TTFN!

Welcome to May's Banana's Blog Hop. As it's Banana Frog's birthday this month, the theme is all about birthdays! Well, here's my offerings:

As I'm making my foray into the digital arena, I created the background paper of this card. Then I made use of That Takes The Cake stamp set and played with the cake stand and cupcakes. It was finished with a sprinkle of Stickles.

The second card is a little traditional. I went for a clean and simple look. Paper from Cosmo Cricket. I used Paperchains stamp set, stamped the triangle stamp back to back so that they could be folded to create a bunting. Then I finished off by using the journaling box from Sentimental Style stamp set and stamped a sentiment.
